What Size Moving Truck Do You Need?

What size moving truck you should rent depends on a variety of different factors. Go through your home room-by-room and make a list of the major pieces of furniture you have. Starting here should give you a good indication of the size of the moving truck you will rent.

Include the large items like beds, dressers, furniture, whiteware and any other items that will not fit into a box. Keep in mind that mattresses and box springs take up a lot of space, so 2 king beds with box springs need a lot of space compared to queen bed mattresses that are on a slate frame.

You also should consider your move: Is it in-town or one-way? For in-town moves, you may be more likely to pack less things and just place them in the truck loose, requiring more space in the back of your truck. However this is offset with the ability to make multiple trips if needed.
